Much like the country they come from, Tenniscoats present a clean, progressive sound while creating a Zen-like ambiance one could only find in Japan. Tenniscoats is a Japanese band consisting of members Saya and Takashi Ueno who incorporate a host of instruments in a dream-like soundtrack you would have wanted to hear dancing in your head when you read Murakami’s Kafka On the Shore.

Much like Japanese society, their music evokes a sense of harmony while simultaneously leaving the listener to believe there is something more going on below the surface… a certain expression of emotional sadness and joy you cannot show to the rest of the world. I guess that’s why when I came across these underground gems Tenniscoats calls their songs, I could relate; even though I have no idea what they are saying (seeing that their lyrics are in Japanese).
